Bar Mitzvah and Beyond
An exploration into what Bar Mitzvah is all about, tailored to the needs and abilities of each learner. Skills, yes - but much more. We work in a supportive and safe learning environment respectful of each family's (and child's) approach to Judaism.
It's important to me that each child find her/his own meaning in what Bar Mitzvah is. This is the focus of the learning we do together
Some of the questions we explore together include:
> why am I doing this?
> what does this mean to me? what could it mean?
> what do you mean, "I'm not HAVING a Bar Mitzvah?!"
> what is a Dvar Torah ("words of Torah learning") and how do I prepare one?
> how do I learn to read from the Torah and prepare my Haftarah?
> what do the prayers mean?
And then what happens after it's all over? What next?
Contact me to discuss the particulars of your child's needs and how we may engage in this process together.
